What Evidence Can Florida Juries Now Hear Under New Law?
Florida juries will have more to consider when deciding defective auto part and car accident cases. Late last month, Florida Governor Rick Scott signed into law a bill that allows juries in defective car crash cases to hear all the driver facts leading up to the car accident. This means jurors hear any evidence of speeding or drunken driving in cases where alleged defective auto parts cause the car accident. Championing the new law is the Florida Chamber of Commerce, which says it restores fairness to the system. A Chamber spokesperson said the law is a boost for Florida’s economic development efforts. Until now, Florida was the only state that did not allow a jury to hear all the facts in these types of cases, said the spokesperson.
